This gallery is in the centre of Shrewsbury, a historic town full of interesting shops and buildings and walks along the River Severn.

Open everyday 10am – 4pm

Fiona will be  participating with the Shrewsbury Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers.  If you particularly want to see and chat to Fiona please contact her before your visit so she can ensure she is at the gallery.

Workshops

May 2019

22nd and 23rd May – Rainbow Dyeing   Learn how to dye wool and silk a variety of bright vibrant colours for knitting, crochet, weaving and embroidery, using synthetic dyes. You’ll learn some interesting techniques which give wonderful effects.

30th May – Scarf Weaving    Come and learn how to set up a small weaving loom, like a rigid heddle loom and weave yourself a length of fabric.  It’s very easy, fun and extremely creative!

July 2019

2nd and 3rd July -  Dyeing with Natural Dyes   Learn how to use mordants and plants from the garden and hedgerows to make beautiful colours on wools and silks using yarns, fibres and fabrics.

9th, 10th and 11th July - Four-shaft Loom Weaving    At this workshop you will learn how to set up a 4-shaft table loom and understand how to create a variety of patterns.  You will also learn how to read weaving patterns. 

August 2019

6th and 7th August - Tapestry Weaving    Learn how to weave a wall-hanging using a variety of yarns and threads.  Or come and learn some new techniques including soumac, linked wefts and colour blending.  Beginners welcome.

27th and 28th August - Spinning for Beginners    Bring your spinning wheel or use one of mine.  You will learn how to card a fleece and how to chose good fibres.  By the end of the day you will have a small hank of your own handspun yarn to take home with you.

September 2019

3rd, 4th and 5th September - Four-shaft Loom Weaving    At this workshop you will learn how to set up a 4-shaft table loom and understand how to create a variety of patterns.  You will also learn how to read weaving patterns. 

October 2019

2nd and 3rd October - Leno Weaving  Come and learn how to make yourself a beautiful lightweight scarf using this unusual Leno technique.  It is quick to weave but time consuming to set up.

9th October - Inkle Weaving   Bring your inkle loom or use one of mine and come and weave a beautiful ribbon or braid.

15th October - Spinning Workshop  Improve your techniques and learn how to spin textured art yarns or any yearn of your choice.  You will get lots of useful hints and tips about spinning and how to use your wheel more effectively.

Her workshops are held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from

10.30 am – 4.00 pm with a maximum of 4 people so you get plenty of help, advice and individual attention.

Group Workshops

Thursday 16th May 2019

  Llŷn Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers - Plying Workshop

Bring your spinning wheel and at least two bobbins of singles yarn which can be any thickness.  You could even bring a bobbin of fancy yarn spun on it, ready to ply.  I will show you how to ply an evenly spun yarn and how to ply some unusual or fancy yarns.  Come and have a fun day out; non-members welcome.

Friday 2nd August 2019

  Aston W. I.  - Weaving Workshop  Aston Church, Nantwich, Cheshire, between Whitchurch and Nantwich off the A525.

Fiona will bring a variety of simple looms for you to try and show you how to weave with weaving sticks.  A very simple but fun way of weaving to make mats, bags, wall hangings and animals.  Great for adults and children.  Non members welcome to the meeting.  Starts 7.30pm
